If you were to ask what defines me, I would tell you about my supportive family, college-sweetheart husband (a marathon runner), my Golden Retriever Bodhi, a little about my job, and that I am an Ironman.
I am an athlete.
It serves me well in my daily life, relationships, profession, and mental well-being.
I honestly don't know how others would have described me before Ironman. Perhaps people would say I was social, motivated, and smart, but I am certain that 'athlete' would not come to mind.
The journey that led me to that finish line forever changed me, and now I have high hopes to inspire, coach, and give others the confidence to make this huge leap of faith and test one's limitations.
Ironman's motto is "Anything Is Possible" and I now have no doubt about that statement.
I dream of making a difference, inspiring others, continuing to lead a healthy lifestyle, coaching beginner athletes, writing a book (or two), traveling around the world, and one day crossing the finish line in Kona at the Ironman World Championships.
I am an artist.
I began making jewelry with beads, graduated into fusing fine silver, and have recently discovered my love of working with precious metal clay. I tend to gravitate toward swirly designs whenever I see them, so you'll start to notice a theme through much of my jewelry. Now that I own a kiln, the obsession has really kicked in, and I notice textures, colors, and different pieces of jewelry everywhere I go!
I work in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and oversee clinical trials for oncology. Making jewelry is a hobby but truthfully, I hope that someday it will become so much more. In the meantime, I enjoy spending some evenings and weekends applying my creativity to create gorgeous silver pieces that will catch the eye of a passerby.
I opened my shop on Etsy www.swirlytwirlygirl.com just one year ago and have learned so much. The Etsy community has allowed me to grow as an artist and gain inspiration from an amazing amount of unique talents.
Besides making jewelry, I'm a girl with many other hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my husband, walking my Golden Retriever (Bodhi), hanging out with family/friends, reading books, wine tasting, and training for marathons/triathlons. Somewhere amidst all of this, I find time to sleep.
